to purifying his soul in addition to his education and should not remain heedless. His simple, yet beautiful words had such an effect on me that I immediately saw my future plans, and never missed a single class of that great scholar as long as I was in Najaf.

Relying on the Household of the Holy Prophet (SAW)
One of his main characteristics which we should definitely follow was his constant relying on the Household of the Prophet (SAW). No one ever saw him expressing the name of the Prophet of Islam (SAW) or his Household (AS) without due respect. He would travel to Mashhad, even in old age, every year to pay his respects to the holy shrine of Imam Ridha (AS). His son narrates, in his last year of life, 'Because of his health condition and doctor's orders, we didn't want him to travel to Mashhad. He did anyway, and this is what he said to me, My son, other than Mashhad, where can one go to complain about aches and pains and get a cure? He always relied on the help of the spirituality of the souls of the Infallibles (AS). He would even seek their help in scientific and philosophical matters and in writing his commentary on the Qur'an. He was always quoted as saying, All we have is from the Holy Prophet's Household (SAW).


Praying and Worship
One of Allameh Tabatabaei's great students had said, The levels of mysticism and the mystic journey of his was overshadowed by his scientific and intellectual rank and he would sometimes be considered only as a scholar. But not only was he a scholar, but he was a real Alem, a mystic and a devoted man to Almighty Allah as well.

He was a prayer-lover and would not only observe the daily obligatory prayers, but also extra recommended ones. Sometimes he would even perform extra recommended prayers while he was walking. The remembrance of God would never depart his lips or heart.

In the holy month of Ramadan, he would stay awake all night, partly studying and partly praying and worshipping his Lord. One of his relatives comments, in his last days, he could barely stand on his two feet, but he would stand to perform his prayers. I would stand behind him to make sure he didn't fall. The Allameh had fallen several times while praying and the falls eventually caused him injuries however he would refuse to sit and perform his prayers. One of his students narrates, I asked him, during the last days of his fruitful life, what I should do to remember God in my prayers and have presence of
